DETROIT (AP) - The unofficial holiday known as opening day has returned to the Motor City.
The Tigers take on the Kansas City Royals Monday in the first game for both teams and the home opener for Detroit.
The ballclub is kicking off its 15th season at Comerica Park and its 114th in Detroit.
The Tigers are the three-time defending American League Central division champions and drew more than 3 million fans last year.
New at Comerica this year will be enhanced security measures, including the installation of walk-through metal detectors at all entry gates and access points. All fans will be screened as they enter the ballpark.
